Club President’s Letter 2022 - 2023

 Club President’s Letter 2022 - 2023

Dear Fellow Rotarians and Friends of Rotary,

It is my honor and privilege to serve as your 28th President of the Rotary Club of Hanalei Bay, established in 1994. Weare the one of five clubs in the Kauai County. I don’t have to tell you that we are starting this year under verychallenging circumstances as we try to move past the COVID-19 Global Pandemic. The Rotary International theme this year is “IMAGINE.”

Currently, our club is meeting in person at The Cliffs in Princeville, with a Zoom option, the 1st and 3rd Thursdaystarting at 12:00 p.m. NOW would be the perfect opportunity to attend an in person or tune in virtually to a meeting, and to see all the great works that our Club provides.

Locally, our Club is involved in dozens of projects. For example, over the years, our Rotary Club has given more than$20,000 in scholarships to deserving local students. In addition, we are actively involved in feeding local families through our worthy projects, including the North Shore Food Pantry. Furthermore, each year, our Club collects anddonates hundreds of toys and gifts to foster children. We have also provided mudslide and disaster relief in times ofemergency to our community. Every year, our Rotary Club members volunteer by cleaning highways, agricultural lands, beaches and parks. We are currently in Phase II in the development of a visionary park for Seniors. These are just a few of the projects in which our Club is involved, and under our current circumstances, with COVID-19, asfurther needs arise, we shall use this as an opportunity to help.

Internationally, the RCHB (International Services) is involved in numerous worthy causes. We support RotaryInternational in its continued quest to eradicate polio from the face of this earth. In addition, to partnership with six global grants in Mexico, New Guinea, Nepal and Palau, Bolivia, Virgin Islands; RCHBIS donated Funds to assist for past-partner club Cochabamba-Tunari with a new Global Grant that will add to the x-ray equipment project in Bolivia.

We bring in excellent speakers to keep our members and guests informed. We host fundraisers for proceeds going toour Foundation for scholarships and community projects. In addition, we host our annual St Patrick’s Day Dinner. Each month, we host a Social Happy Hour at different locations. We have Holiday Parties, and we otherwise gettogether informally. It’s a great group of people who meet to engage and IMAGINE a positive sustainable community. We invite you to consider joining us at the Rotary Club of Hanalei Bay. Hope you can join us!
